Corporate Sustainability

For many years, the Generali Deutschland Group has been dedicating much attention to issues of sustainability. We have set ourselves the target to operate on an ecologically sustainable basis and to persistently extend and enhance our commitment to sustainability, be it in the social field or through an eco-friendly product range.

Besides the principles of the Ethical Code, the Generali Deutschland Group has adopted the Environmental Policy of the international Generali Group , as an explicit statement of its commitment. Beyond this we have defined our own binding targets for the Generali Deutschland Group :

Targets 2012
Carbon: Reduction of total carbon emissions by 50 percent
   
Energy: Reduction of per-capita energy consumption by 5 percent
   
Water: Reduction of per-capita water consumption by 5 percent
   
Paper: Reduction of total paper consumption by 5 percent
  Increase of the share of ecological paper in total paper consumption by 10 percent
   
Waste: Increase of the waste separation ratio by a total of 10 percent
   
Purchasing: Strengthening of sustainability aspects in assessing providers
   
Training: Launch of training systems to enhance employee awareness for efficiency of resources and energy
   
Products: Identification of sustainable products and product aspects
   
Investments: Definition of criteria to determine sustainable investments and use of investment products (e.g. carbon certificates, forest investments etc.) in order to support the reduction of carbon emissions
   
For quantitative targets the reference year is 2009.
