In 1975 AachenMünchener enters unknown territory in sales: the company concludes an agency agreement with Allgemeine Vermögensberatung AG, which later changes its name to Deutsche Vermögensberatung AG. For AachenMünchener, this is the beginning of a new chapter in the sales of insurance products. In addition to its own field staff, there is an external sales organization in which AachenMünchener Lebensversicherung and Prof. Dr. Pohl, founder of the company and pioneer of bancassurance business both hold a stake. The cooperation with the company becomes a decisive factor for the success for the Generali Deutschland Group and this is still the case today. The outstanding achievement of Deutsche Vermögensberatung is based on its financial advisors which are well trained and strong in selling. In addition to its enormous distribution capacity this cooperation also is another creative element in the development of new products oriented at demand. Due to their millions of customer contacts, the financial advisors of Deutsche Vermögensberatung, which today total about 35,000 persons, are highly sensitive to market requirements; this allows an early recognition of market tendencies and a fast response with the support of the product partners in the Generali Deutschland Group.

At the end of the 70s, the first legal foundations are laid for the Group structure as it is known and successfully operating today: Aachener und Münchener Versicherung AG changes its name to AMB Aachener und Münchener Beteiligungs-AG (AMB; since January 1, 2009 Generali Deutschland Holding AG) and the total insurance portfolio is transferred to the subsidiary Cosmos Allgemeine. The latter, in turn, changes its headoffice from Saarbrücken to Aachen and its name to AachenMünchener Versicherung AG. In 1979, the management of the Group is thus concentrated in a holding company and separated from the operative business of the Group companies. The then AMB becomes the parent company of the restructured Group - in the beginning as a mere "compagnie financière", later as a strategic holding company.

In 1982 Cosmos Lebensversicherung AG, integrated in the Group in the early 70s, and Cosmos Versicherung AG, founded in the same year, start their genuine direct selling activities. From the Saarbrücken location, the Cosmos Group offers favourably priced insurance products by phone and mail and later also by fax and BTX. The company consistently does without any sales channels not leading directly to the customer. In 1996 the first Internet website replaces the BTX-T-Online system used until then. From the very start, Cosmos pursues a multi-channel strategy in which the Internet is complementary to the other channels of communication and information. Also under the multi-channel strategy, the priority is always on individual advice in personal discussions. In term life insurance CosmosDirekt becomes the market leader.

During the 80s, the then AMB Group systematically expands its position by internal growth and the acquisition of numerous companies of the insurance and financial-services industry and becomes the third-biggest primary insurance group in Germany. In 1989 it first acquires a 25 percent stake in Volksfürsorge Deutsche Lebensversicherung AG (now Volksfürsorge Holding AG) and later increases that stake to 100 percent. In 1990 the legal expenses insurer AdvoCard Rechtsschutzversicherung AG is integrated in the Group. With the take-over of the majority in Bank für Gemeinwirtschaft (BfG) in 1987, the Group starts the sale of insurance policies at bank counters and the distribution of bank products through insurance agents.

In the wake of a concentration on primary insurance business, part of the portfolio of Aachen Re is sold in 1995 and at the same time the name of the company is changed to AM Konzernrückversicherung AG. As the Group's internal reinsurer, the company is merged into the holding company in 1997 with the latter extending its company object to include reinsurance operations.
